Unlock the secrets to postpartum success with our Parental Wellness Class: Prep for Post!
As a labor and postpartum doula of five years, I know firsthand that the postpartum period is a time of immense change, joy, and adjustment. It’s also a phase that often leaves new and seasoned parents feeling overwhelmed and unprepared for the unique challenges that come with healing, bonding, and caring for a newborn - and sometimes other kids in the home. i have seen parents have incredible smooth adjustments into parenting, and I’ve seen parents have profound challenges. And I want to bridge that gap. That’s why I am thrilled to offer a class to start our education program and add to our menu of comprehensive services that addresses specifically this. It’s called Prep for Post and it’s a game-changer for families stepping into this new chapter.

Why the Prep for Post Class is Essential (and Why I Love It)
Prep for Post Class isn’t just another parenting class—it’s a lifeline designed to empower families with the tools, knowledge, and confidence they need to thrive during the “4th trimester” and beyond. Here’s why I love it and chose to add it to my services:
Expert Guidance: Prep for Post was created by a seasoned therapist with extensive training in child development, trauma, perinatal health and attachment. But she made it super accessible so that anyone perinatal professional can lead it or parents can even do a self-paced online version. She also collaborated with highly seasoned professionals in the birth field like IBCLCs and Doulas.
Holistic Approach: Prep for Post covers so much more than just mental health. It covers emotional well-being to relationship dynamics and information about what feeding and sleep options might mean for your family. It doesn’t just look at one member of the family - it looks at and includes everyone.
Community Connection: Parents gain access to a supportive network of peers, creating an invaluable space to share experiences, tips, and encouragement. We agree with Through to THRIVE about the importance and value of community. Birch Tree Birth Services was founded on the deep seeded belief that everyone deserves support during such a vulnerable and impactful change in their life. I wholeheartedly feel it is not enough to just claim that it takes a village to raise a child, but that we should actively strive to create that village to support those in our community and this class as well as all the services I offer is my way of trying to help create that village of support to help growing families.
What You’ll Learn in the Prep for Post Class

Participants leave the class armed with:
Strategies to manage postpartum recovery, including understanding mood changes like postpartum blues or depression.
Tools to balance mental health and self-care while attending to the demands of new parenthood.
Insights into newborn feeding, sleep, and bonding that simplify early parenting and create balanced families rather than stressed ones.
Ways to foster strong family connections and navigate the evolving dynamics with a partner or other children.
Quarterly check-in calls scheduled at a time that works best for you to see how you’re doing, if you need any resources, and if you need any help adjusting your plan to accommodate any big changes.
Testimonials from Parents Who’ve Thrived
"Taking the Prep for Post Class gave me so much confidence as a first-time mom. I felt prepared, supported, and connected with a community of parents going through the same thing." – Emma, First-Time Mom

Who Should Join This Class?
EVERYONE! We know that postpartum mood challenges do not discriminate based on age, socioeconomic status, race, gender, whether you have a history of challenges or not, or sexual orientation. Sometimes people worry about postpartum challenges because they have a known risk factor, but many parents think they’ll be totally fine because they have a lot of resources or didn’t have PMADs with their first child, and then PMADs catch them off guard. Whether you’re a first-time parent, welcoming another baby, or just want to support your adult child through postpartum recovery, this course is for you. It’s also ideal for anyone looking to supplement their birth preparation classes with a dedicated focus on the postpartum period parental wellness.
Plus, everyone who signs up for the class [in-person and/or online] gets to bring one support person of their choosing! It can be their spouse, parent/grandparent, or bestie. I love when pregnant folks involve their communities!
